After Exam Stress And How To Cope / Deal With It?
Do you feel the stress after exams when your certain
exam or test go bad? That strain you have on yourself while continuously
thinking about the mistake and then regretting it. I hope I'm not the only one
who have gone through such a phase. This post is about stress after exam based
on my personal experience and how to deal with post exam stress.
This type of stress which we get after our particular
test go wrong and we keep on thinking about the mistakes again and again. This
also has adverse effect on the performance of the consecutive paper or exam and
obviously on our marks. Also such stress comes up when the whole exam gets over
and you start worrying about the result.
This happened with me when I was fully prepared for the
exam and I fell short on my preparation on time management. I didn't carry my
watch and could not figure out the time and couldn't complete my paper as I
wanted. I felt so angry about myself and kept thinking about it when I came
home, I couldn't sleep, while preparing for my next paper, it just kept coming
in my mind. But my worries were useless because I scored quite good in that
paper, so I was double happy. J
So the
consequences of having after exam stress is one you can't concentrate properly
for the next paper. The constant tension about the latter paper disturbs your
revision or preparation for the next paper. Also low level of concentration
leads to lower performance in the next paper therefore low marks which also
results into stress coz of getting low marks. So according to how I cope up
here are some tips to cope up with after exam stress
1.
Don’t think about it: I would recommend you to not think
about it much and always feel like “this paper is over and you cant do anything
about it”. You tried your best and it will surely show up in your results. Always
think that it is not end of anything, You have many papers ahead so its not
good to think about the past. Well, only thing you should think about is to
quickly analyse your mistake and not doing it again. Always refrain yourself
from over thinking about something when the next thing is very important for
you.
2.
Don’t expect anything: It’s never a good thing to have a
high expectation about your exam or even about anything else. High expectation
leads to disappointment. Hence never expect more and always be grateful of
whatever the results may come. Even if your family members, teachers or friends
are having an expectation from you, do not let it influence or pressure get on
you and do what you want to do.
3.
If possible don’t tell anybody: You know that its always
said that you should always share your problems with others. But in this case I
would suggest that don’t tell anyone coz if you tell that person about your bad
paper then it will keep bothering you that the particular person knows about
your problem and even if you have forgotten your problem and meet that person
some other time, it will gradually come up in your conversation and you’ll go
back into that mode. But if you want to express your feeling and you would feel
better by doing it then you should. J. Also it will be beneficial if you would tell it to someone trusted, who won't keep on poking the same topic and bring up your problem again and again.
4.
Learn from your mistakes: We know that human makes mistakes
and so once you do such type of mistake it teaches you a lesson for your life which you should never
forget. So, you should take a note of your mistake like what you did wrong in
your exam and do not repeat it in your next exam, this little step will help
you a long way J
5.
Sleep Well: You
should have a good sleep before the exam day. Restrain yourself for doing over
night studies and making you sick. I know we students tend to study a day
before exam and even after such posts nobody is going to change the habit. So
during exam do not take a chance with your health and study till a limit at
night and have a full 8 hours sleep to be all refresh for the exam J
6.
Be punctual: This is the most important thing you should
apply on your every activity. Always be on time for the exam. Keep all your
stationary and other supplies for exam ready a day before. Reach the exam hall
20 mins earlier and get accustomed with the surrounding. Then close your eyes
and revise what you have learn. Nobody could go wrong if one follow this point.
And that’s it, if you follow what I’ve
written surely you will definitely have less stress after exam. Let me make
clear that I’m not a psychologist or anything and this may or may not show same
effect as it did on me. These are not the full and final solutions to deal with
this kind of stress but I’ve come up with this from my personal experience and
it helped me and felt like sharing it with you too. So, I hope it helps you
too. Also comment below if you like the post , or if you have some more tips to
add, any suggestion for my post to improve and help you even more and if you
have any query, and plz share I would deeply appreciate it. THANK YOU. HAVE A
GREAT DAY. BEST OF LUCK J
