Mysterious affair at Styles by Agatha Christie review by everything bee knows
Mysterious affair at styles Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie is known as the best author in the mystery
genre. She is also considered as female Sherlock homes. The way she unravels
the truth towards the ending is just amazing.
I wonder how they write such mystery novels. With so much of interrelated
contents and then the truth reveals in the end is quite shocking and will leave you speechless.
This book was written in 1920 and it’s her
first book. The book is narrated by a character Mr. Hastings who is himself involved in the case. The storyline is that Mr. Hastings goes to his friend Mr. John Cavendish’s house at styles in a war surrounded area where even wastage of paper was avoided. His step mother married to a person named Mr. Alfred Inglethorp was the talk of the town. After couple of days of Hastings stay at the house, one day there was dramatic quarrel which is suspected to lead to the death of Mrs. Inglethorp but then Mr. John Cavendish appoints Hercules Poirot the well known Belgian detective, on Hastings suggestion. The story then becomes complex and more interesting and an “open and close” case takes a wild turn which gives us a page turner novel.

About the story, the climax as well as the ending
is a living pictorial which gives you a good understanding of the situation as a map
is given for reader’s help. Writing was a little old school to me as I am more
into young adult novels with modern terms being used. There was use of foreign
languages of which translation was not given but that conversation was not a
major thing to focus so that can be easily ignored. Otherwise the whole book
was a wholesome package of mystery, suspense, action and drama involved and the
detective uses his intelligence and Agatha Christie's writing works as a charm.
Overall a very good book and I would totally love to re-read again and recommend
to those with a taste of detective mystery stories and are ardent fan of the
great Agatha Christie's work.
Thanks
for reading and stay tuned for more J
