Easy way to learn and memorize Schedules of the Indian Constitution with quiz at the end
The constitution of India has a structure which includes
articles, schedules, parts and appendices. Schedules has a very important part
in the Indian constitution , so I’m going to show you easy way to learn the
schedules with use of simple meanings. There are 12 schedules in the
constitution of India they are given below plus read through till the end for the quiz to help you memorise the schedules in a fun way :) :)
1. First schedule is ( Name of the
States and their territorial jurisdiction Names of the Union Territories and
their extent)(article 1-4)
2. Second schedule is (Provisions
relating to the emoluments, allowances, privileges and so on, of president of
India, governors of states, speaker and Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and
Legislative Assembly, Chairman and Dy chairman of rajya sabha and Legislative
Council, Judges of Supreme court and High court, Controller and auditor general
of India) that means this schedule is about salary of everyone doing government
jobs. Salary of IAS, IPS, CM, Class 1 Officer etc.
3. Third schedule is (Form of Oath
and other affirmation for the union minister candidates of election to the
parliament, members of parliament, judges of the SC, Controller and auditor
general etc.) this means how the ministers take oath and affirmation before
holding their offices and chairs.

4. Fourth schedule is (Allocation of
seats in the Rajya Sabha to the states and the
union territories) This means how many seats will be given to each state
according to the size and population of the state.
5. Fifth Schedule is Provisions relating
to the administration and control of scheduled
areas and schedules tribes( in the States of
Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram )

6. Sixth schedule is Provisions
relating to the administration of tribal area in the states of
Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram (this schedule was created for the
indigenous tribal people who are minorities are ensured different rights and
more freedom than the dominant non tribal majority by the constitution of India
)
7. Seventh schedule Division of
powers between the Union and the states in terms of List
I (Union list), List II (State List) and List III (Concurrent List)
(these are list of responsibilities that need to be done by state govt. and
union (central government)
8. Eighth schedule is Languages
recognised by the constitution of India originally there was 14 but now there
are 22 languages. They are Assamese , Bengali, Bodo, Dongri, Gujarati, Hindi,
Marathi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malyalam, Manipuri, Nepali,
Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
9. Ninth schedule Acts and Regulations of the
state legislatures dealing with and reforms ans abolition of the zamindari
system and of the Parliament dealing with other matters
10. Tenth schedule
Provisions relating to disqualification of the members of Parliament and State
Legislatures on the ground of defection Also called as Anti defection Law this
means disqualification of elected members on the grounds of
defection to another political party. Elected members will be suspended/removed
from their party cause of ‘defect’ion.
11. Eleventh schedule Specifies the
powers authority and responsibilities of Panchayats (this was created for the
development and administration of the rural local govt. with 3 tier govt
including zila parishad, panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat.
12. Twelfth schedule Specifies the
powers authority and responsibilities of Municipalities (this was created for
the development and administration of the urban local govt. with 3 tier govt including
Municipal Corporation (popu. 3lk) and more like Mumbai, Municipal Council (popu.
1lk) and more and Nagar Panchayat is a settlement in transition from rural to
urban)
