Major areas to look out for badminton during tournaments

When the season of badminton matches come forth of us, we start getting ready for the upcoming matches and challenges. Well, just preparing for the match isn’t enough. You have to focus on the areas which are really neglected which results in a defeat. I’m going to list the number of areas where you have to look after for a sure shot win at the tournament.

1.  Clears

These are treated as the most easily done shots. But the reality is that the perfection which one has to achieve is very important. A good clear opens up the area and let us get to the base position ready for the upcoming shot. It is a shot to relax ourselves in between the game. Many rookie players which I have seen are not that good with their clears. They fall short and very vulnerable for killer smashes to end the point, the set and the game.

2.  Net kills

Taken as the most easily played shot, net kills are the most vulnerable shots which are done perfectly are a game winner but if failed then it’s a game loser. Many players in excitement of seeing the shuttle higher n closer to net, they attempt the shot, some get successful but others fail at the attempt by hitting the shuttle in the net and we lose our precious point. Practicing this shot is very crucial. Get it mastered up and you are done. J

3.  Footwork

Till now the list about conquering and mastering the basics and this is one such basic, if conquered you’ll be a conqueror of the match and even of the tournament. A very essential element of badminton. With footwork you’ll be able to hit and attend any shot, helps in covering more area, makes your reach faster and you’ll definitely stand high then your opponent.

4.  Backhand

Back hand comes handy when you fall short to reach your shuttle which is at the backhand area. A powerful backhand tricks the opponent and shows your superiority in the game. Practice your backhand on a wall to get a firmer and more precise backhand shot.

5.  Placing

While playing we tend to get lost in the game and lose the chance of ending a point by just placing the shuttle. I’ve seen Tai Tzu Ying's game and the way she places the shuttle which leaves the opponent speechless. Which makes her unpredictable and that’s why she’s the first world ranking women singles player. You guys need to check out her placing tricks on YouTube.

6.  Behavior

Be amiable and friendly with all and show no fear on your face even if you’re nervous, that attracts failure to your side. Always be confident while playing even if you fail, appreciate your opponents game that it outshined you and use this as a motivation to polish your game. Wear comfortable clothes and a pair of badminton shoes. You can also wear any indoor game shoes like indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball etc. to get good traction on wooden and green carpet courts.

And that’s it, these were a list of things you have to look at and practice it out and get your game more appealing and polished to win any tournament ahead. Practice well and best of luck. J
